4 Dwellings, Hampshire
We are currently developing proposals for a carefully considered residential scheme in a rural setting in collaboration with a local developer. The project seeks to deliver four new dwellings that respond sensitively to the character of the surrounding landscape while creating a cohesive and high-quality addition to the local built environment.
The development has been arranged to take advantage of the site's unique topography and countryside setting. Three of the proposed homes are positioned along the existing streetscene, helping to reinforce the established pattern of development and create a strong and legible frontage. Their scale, form, and material palette draw inspiration from the local vernacular, ensuring the new dwellings sit comfortably within the wider rural context.
The fourth dwelling occupies a more secluded position deeper within the site, taking advantage of the natural landform and significant change in levels across the plot. Set into the steeply sloping terrain, the design has evolved as a direct response to the site's topography, allowing the building to integrate naturally into the landscape while maximising opportunities for views across the surrounding countryside. This approach not only reduces the visual impact of the development but also creates a distinctive dwelling with a strong connection to its setting.
Collectively, the proposals aim to balance contemporary living requirements with a context-led architectural response, delivering a small collection of bespoke homes that enhance the character of the site while preserving the qualities that define its rural location. Generous landscaping, carefully considered positioning, and a sensitive approach to scale and massing ensure the development contributes positively to both the streetscene and the wider landscape.
