HILLSIDE
Following a positive pre-application to South Downs National Park, we have submitted a full planning application for a contemporary 'upside-down' dwelling.
The two primary volumes are connected by a double-height entrance hall, which establishes a vertical spatial connection while accommodating a ground-floor office and an elevated dining space on the first floor. The north-facing, two-storey element is planned as a highly functional service wing, incorporating an expansive utility and plant room and close connection to the carport structure. At first floor a refined master suite with integrated facilities is created above.
The southern volume is arranged to provide two guest bedrooms with a shared bathroom and a gym at ground floor level, while the upper floor is conceived as a generous open plan kitchen and living space that extends into a landscaped garden terrace. The dwelling also integrates a centrally positioned lift to guarantee long-term accessibility, ensuring the home can adapt gracefully to changing mobility needs over the years.
The new home is intended to be built using sustainable construction methods and renewables, which formed a central part of the clients’ brief for the project.
