MEADOW VIEW
Works were completed on site in 2024 to deliver a new single-storey contemporary extension to an existing dwelling.
The property, located within the New Forest National Park, was recently constructed and therefore would not benefit from the 30% extension provision within the National Park. An initial application for a rear extension under permitted development rights was submitted and approved, establishing the principle of the proposed additional floor area. Subsequently, a full planning application was submitted for an alternative scheme of equivalent size, offering an enhanced layout and architectural quality more suited to the client’s needs and the site’s setting.

Design Intent
The client’s brief was to create a modern, open-plan living space suited to family life, while also improving the connection to the large garden. They wanted the extension to have a contemporary external appearance, balanced with a selection of more traditional details within the interior.
Planning policy restricted the size of the extension, so we maximised the use of the existing floor area to achieve a more efficient and improved layout.
